Focusing on schoolwork can be hard, but when it comes down to it, you won’t regret the hard work in the end. We all need a little help with focus, so I am here to help you out with these tips:
Step 1 Put your phone on silent, do not disturb, or off. It can be hard to ignore those messages or notifications if your phone is in sight. This will also help if you are prone to cases of FOMO.
Step 2 Make a plan. Be sure to write down in a calendar or on a to-do list everything that you need to get done, and set deadlines for yourself.
Step 3 Drink plenty of water. By drinking about two or three liters of water each day, you can feel better mentally and physically-- I have tried it.
Step 4 Avoid the internet. It is understandable that you may need to use the internet for schoolwork, but if you don’t need it, then disconnect the internet to avoid your mind wandering to figure out which pizza you are on a Buzzfeed quiz.
Step 5 Be sure to sleep enough. Not getting enough sleep can make it harder to focus. Try to make the time for at least 7 or 8 hours of shut eye.
Step 6 Treat studying and schoolwork like a full time job. Try to spend your time during the day, if possible, studying and doing work, that way you can get the sleep you need at night.
Step 7 Take mini breaks and breathe. Studying, researching, and writing can take a mental toll on anyone, so take mini breaks and just get up and stretch or go get something to eat or drink.
Step 8 Watch movies, not shows. If you find that you need, or have time for a Netflix break, then choose movies instead of serial shows that can suck you in. Movies are a two hour, one time deal.
Happy studying!
